Inspections in Botoşani revealed numerous violations of workplace regulations.
From May 14th to 17th, a national campaign was held to verify the compliance of employers with legal provisions regarding the conclusion and execution of individual employment contracts, as well as the minimum requirements for occupational safety and health. As a result of these inspections, several employers from Botoşani were fined by the Territorial Labor Inspectorate (ITM) Botoşani. The campaign focused on employers operating in shopping centers in the following fields: "Cultivation of plants for breeding (including ornamental plants and flowers)", "Funeral and related activities", "Retail sale of flowers, plants and seeds, retail sale of pets and pet food in specialized stores", and "Wholesale trade of flowers and plants". "In these areas, workers face, under certain conditions, risks of accidents and/or occupational diseases, which results in a high number of workplace injuries (7% of all accidents in the national economy)," stated representatives of ITM Botoşani.
Thus, during the campaign, 22 inspections were carried out in the field of labor relations, resulting in 19 remedial measures and one administrative penalty in the form of a warning. The main deficiency found was the lack of keeping records of the working hours of employees, including the start and end time of their shifts. Regarding occupational safety and health, 22 economic agents were inspected, with 16 of them being fined. A total of 28 non-conformities were identified, for which measures were taken, including a fine of 8,000 lei and 25 warnings. The most common deficiencies in the field of occupational safety and health were:
- Absence of a risk assessment for occupational hazards
- Lack of safety and health instructions and training for employees
- Non-compliance with specific technical and organizational safety measures
- Absence of a designated person responsible for occupational safety and health.
