NATO Remembers Unification Day of Romanian Principalities: Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoană Sends Message
"NATO Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoană has sent a message on the occasion of the Unification Day of the Romanian Principalities, stating that "we have a duty to leave our descendants a strong, respected and influential country."
"We celebrate January 24, such an important day in the history of our nation. Complicated moments have also been experienced back then, after the Crimean War, by the leaders of the appositive movement, Alexandru Ioan Cuza, whom I continue to consider one of the most important leaders of our nation," said Mircea Geoană in a message posted on his Facebook page.
In these extremely complicated times that we are currently living, the lesson of Alexandru Ioan Cuza must guide us all. Because only through courage, ambition, and patriotism can one succeed and lead the national project and Romania forward," said Mircea Geoană.
He stated that we owe it to our predecessors to leave behind "a great and influential country in Europe," according to Agerpres.
"It is a day that we owe to our predecessors, and we also have a duty to leave our descendants a strong, respected, and influential country, because this is our destiny: a great and influential country in Europe," added Mircea Geoană.
